Getting ready for winter
This time of the year beaver are very active. They are building up their dams, feeding, storing a cache of food outside of their lodge, and adding to their lodge for winter.
You can see the cache to the right of the lodge and close to the entrance. Once the pond is frozen, they will rely on this cache during the cold winter months. Beaver store tons of food as each beaver will need approximately 2 lbs. of food every day to survive in the winter.

The effects of intense dam building can be challenging for trails, boardwalks along beaver ponds, and roads. 4. Building up a cache of food close to their lodge 5.
